Charlotte, North Carolina’s newest rising artist, Murda, is set to take the music industry by storm with the release of his debut single “Pen To The Booth,” released on March 20th, 2023. After being released from prison earlier this year, Murda has been hard at work creating a sound that is all his own.
“Pen To The Booth” is the first track on Murda‘s upcoming mixtape, which is yet to be titled. The song features Gmack The Bandman, his label mate at Money Over Death, a label that is quickly becoming a powerhouse in the music industry. The single has already gained popularity for its raw-street lyrics, witty wordplay, and the perfect combination of singing and R&B in hip-hop.
Murda has been giving his fans a taste of what’s to come by showcasing his vocals on various social media platforms in the lead-up to the release of his debut single. His music speaks to all the single mothers and broken relationships worldwide, and his emotional rollercoaster perfectly captures the highs and lows of life.
To celebrate the release of “Pen To The Booth,” Murda is embarking on his “Pen To The Booth Radio Tour” on March 23rd, 2023, in Raleigh, NC, and continuing through North Carolina through April. Fans can expect to see his incredible talent and feel the energy that he brings to every performance.
Murda‘s music is a throwback to what hip-hop was originally about—expressing inner feelings and restoring the roots of hip-hop. Fans can catch a glimpse of his artistry on Murda‘s and Money Over Death Records‘ Instagram. Listen to “Pen To The Booth” now and experience the talent of Charlotte’s newest rising artist.

I’ve been through so much drama
I’m just tryin to take care of my momma
Lyrics:
Verse 1: MURDA
It’s been a long time
but I’m back now
still carry the burden of bugga death
so I don’t smile
just talk to my best friend momma
she told me she sick now
18 years inside the pen really had me stressed out
every time I think about my momma
I feel like I let her down
so I gotta pick her up
I gotta make her proud
but it’s so hard cuz the streets keep calling
I’m doing everything I know to stay focus
tell my lil boy his daddy life was sucker free
concrete and another murda they’ll never be
tell my lil boy that I’m the last of a dying breed
if he gone thug it
thug it but do it better than me
go get that money
and lie to the hoes
whatever you ride
put that bitch on some 4s
see you a gangster when they mention your name when you gone
call it a boss if you fall off and the hood put you on
I’ve been through so much drama
I’m just tryin to take care of my momma
Ms. MARY
And that’s REAL
Chorus:
Said I came from the pen to the booth
pen to the booth (3x)
Pen to the booth (3x)
Yeah
From the bottom
Yeah
Now I’m headed to the Top
(Repeat Chorus)
You don’t know
where I came from
I got to win
I’m back again
Verse 2: Gmack The Bandman
I told my nigga be patient
we bout to change the game
It’s been a minute since prison, I overcame the chains
My partna did some foul shit
but I won’t say his name
Just know I got that back in blood
I put that on the gang
Now everybody wanna talk about Mack
came from a long line of pushing that pack
thought he was my nigga
til he tried to get me wacked
caught a couple of charges
but I had to fight back
nowadays niggas really wanna be rats
and I don’t really get it
can’t comprehend that
from the pen to the booth I ain’t never going back
from the pen to the booth I ain’t never going back
Murda you home, so homie stay strong
and we gonna win
I promise you that
Remember back then
we were just kids
stuck in the pen
writing these raps
now we in the suites
in the stu every week
fucking with the Big Bro I C E
for the year 2-3
nigga its you me
big LB
M O D
Chorus:
just tryin to take care of my momma
Ms. MARY
And that’s REAL
Said I came from the pen to the booth
pen to the booth (3x)
Pen to the booth (3x)
Yeah
From the bottom
Yeah
Now I’m headed to the Top
(Repeat Chorus)
You don’t know
where I came from
I got to win
I’m back again
About Murda:
Pain, to the pen, and finally to the booth! That has been the life trajectory for Jeremy Moore professionally known as Murda aka Murdaman. Charlotte, NC was the back drop to the familiar story of this young talented and mischievous youth being raised by a single mother. Poverty and struggle were served up on a regular basis to this bright teen, and so started his journey with the law…and his music.
His years of incarceration did not dim his light and creativity in the slightest. He took with him the inspiring words from Uncle Bugga, “Believe in yourself” and the blessing of his mentor John P. Kee that continued to shed the light of positivity on him. Both were instrumental in him cultivating his craft and insatiable taste for singing and storytelling. He had always been influenced by singers such as Sam Cooke, and Anthony Hamilton, and it shows. He has since evolved as a soothing crooner and an impeccable writer.
Re-entering society after an 18-year stint, so much is different for Jeremy. The world is not the same as when he went in, but he is adamant and inspired to share his talent and his stories with the world.
Money Over Death Records is ready to usher this refined talent to the masses. A meeting with his now label mate, Gmack The Bandman, led him to being signed by MOD’s CEO, Ice. They are now pushing his first single appropriately titled, “Pen to the Booth” featuring Gmack. In it, Murdaman shares the story of getting back to life, his family and taking care of business.
He is rewriting his life story. And as he rises from the old and into the new, we are here for every single story, one smooth croon and one dope note at a time.
