Two New York natives from different parts of the city have linked up on the Summer anthem “I Feel Good,” with rising Connecticut artist Joe Banga.
Tony Sunshine is known for providing the key ingredient on hit songs for many legends, starting with his Terror Squad days with Big Pun and Fat Joe. Sunshine has a gift for freestyling his verses and created the hook on the spot for “I Feel Good,” in a Miami studio with Hartford’s own Joe Banga.
Joe Banga, known in the Northeast not only for his music but for his well-loved clothing line “1990 Somethin’,’ is no stranger to collaborations. Working with other artists has not only helped 1990 Somethin’ grow its fan base, it has also drawn attention to Joe Banga’s musical side.
When thinking of the legend Jadakiss, dance tracks would not come to mind. Known for his solid rhymes highlighting the realities of street life, Jadakiss, Sheek Louch and Styles P led their group “The Lox” into stardom in the mid-90s. He has written hits that have put a stamp on hip hop history.
On “I Feel Good,” Joe and Jadakiss leave the concrete behind and surprisingly show up on the beat with optimistic lyrics, good vibes and an uplifting purpose, all tying into the mantra of the piece, “I Feel Good.” Tony Sunshine’s catchy chorus lightens up Jadakiss’ signature gritty vocals, and Joe Banga brings it all together with lyrics that paint a story of perseverance and the peace that comes by enjoying something worked hard for.
This glimpse into the high life through Joe, Jada and Sunshine is reminiscent of the earlier days of hip hop when rap artists would leave their hard lyrics aside and instead give the people something to dream about.
With the taste of sunshine, Miami and good energy, “I Feel Good” is the anthem and mantra for the Summer.
