charlieonnafriday, who has amassed nearly 1 billion global streams with his string of irrepressible releases since 2022, breaks the bank once again with his newest track, “When I’m Leavin.” The single has amassed millions of views across socials since it was first teased just a few short weeks ago, and is now officially available today via Island Records. Charlie chants the song’s ethereal three-line mantra over a smooth instrumental bed: “You only love me when I’m leavin/ You only love me when I’m already gone/ You only love me when the whiskey makes you miss me, oooooh….”

When I’m Leavin” was co-written by Texas singer and songwriter Aldae, who co-wrote the #1 Miley Cyrus hit, “Flowers” (2023, winner of two Grammy Awards®), and also co-wrote five songs on Justin Bieber’s last studio album, Justice (2021, including the RIAA gold “As I Am”). Aldae (Gregory Hein) has also co-written hits for Jung Kook, blink-182, MGK, Demi Lovato, Jessie Murph, and more.

When I’m Leavin” follows the long string of fan-favorite singles from charlieonnafriday, including “I’m Not Crazy” (which interpolated Matchbox 20’s classic “Unwell”); “Same Friends” featuring Lil Tjay; and “Somebody New” (February). “Young & Foolish,” Charlie’s collabo with Canadian production duo Loud Luxury reached #1 At Dance Radio earlier this year.

Seattle native Charlie, who turned 21 on February 21st, began his hot streak with the accidental success of his first single “After Hours” which has garnered over 200 million streams and over 32 million YouTube views. His upward climb continued with “Enough,” which became a Top 20 single on Pop Radio, surpassing “After Hours” with over 220 million streams and over 23 million views. “Enough” was recently certified RIAA gold and “After Hours” has been certified platinum. In the run-up to “Same Friends,” Charlie released “That’s What I Get,” a creative continuation of “Enough.”

Selected as one of Pandora’s all-genre Artists To Watch 2024, charlieonnafriday is opening the Tate McRae Think Later World Tour 2024’s Euro leg starting April 17-18th in Dublin, hitting 16 countries through May 22nd, before heading to Australia/New Zealand in November. Charlie’s 2023 schedule included full US tours with powerhouses Macklemore, Jessie Murph, and McRae. While growing up, Charlie was massively influenced by Macklemore aka The Professor, and was honored to be featured on his 2023 album, BEN (on “I Don’t Know”).
