Blxst – About You
Hip hop star Blxst returns with the music video for his latest single, “About You,” directed by Alfredo Flores (Ariana Grande, Ciara, Justin Bieber).
Created with support from the Breakthrough program on Amazon Music, the video pulls inspiration from Malcolm & Marie, the black and white visual follows Blxst and his love interest, played by Paige Hurd of Power Book II: Ghost and The Oval, as they go through the motions of their relationship. An intimate portrayal of the raw emotions over the course of an evening, the cinematic music video shares the good, the bad, and the ugly facets of love.

Might spin the block but you the one I double back to
This ain’t no joke, I got that dope, you might attract to (Yeah)
Lyrics:
Intro
Ayy
Chorus
I need you to be about we (We)
If you put a limit on your love then count me
Girl, I know my selfish ways be OD (Sheesh)
But I just express in ways you don’t see, yeah, yeah
And you should know that I’m about you
If this ain’t the way to love then show me how to
‘Cause I’m not afraid of breakin’ all rules
I say what I say, I don’t say it to sound cool
Verse 1
And I’m not the type to settle up
You know my level up
Nothin’ ’bout me regular
Girl, I can get it on my own, I’m forever up
But I’d rather have you hold me down like Coretta does
Are you the type to stick around for whatever comes?
I’m not no nigga you just found, I’m a one-of-one
Yes, it might be some ups and downs, but I never run
It might be later, it might be now, but it’s more to come
Said, it’s more to come
Chorus
I need you to be about we (Oh, oh)
If you put a limit on your love then count me (Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh)
Girl, I know my selfish ways be OD (Sheesh)
But I just express in ways you don’t see, yeah, yeah
And you should know that I’m about you
If this ain’t the way to love then show me how to
‘Cause I’m not afraid of breakin’ all rules
I say what I say, I don’t say it to sound cool
Verse 2
Ayy, you know they can’t distract me
Bet not distract you
Might spin the block but you the one I double back to
This ain’t no joke, I got that dope, you might attract to (Yeah)
Don’t want no smoke with none of them folk, I’d rather match you
Respectfully, you be checkin’ me, I get at you
A lil ‘crazy, but baby don’t be irrational, ayy
I just talk a lil’ different, she understand though
It ain’t never no pressure that we can’t handle (No, oh, oh)
Chorus
I need you to be about we
If you put a limit on your love then count me
Girl, I know my selfish ways be OD (Sheesh)
But I just express in ways you don’t see, yeah, yeah
And you should know that I’m about you
If this ain’t the way to love then show me how to
‘Cause I’m not afraid of breakin’ all rules
I say what I say, I don’t say it to sound cool, oh-oh
Bridge
And you must be, used to these lame-ass niggas
Always runnin’ game-ass niggas
I ain’t tryna paint that picture
If I had it my way
I would be cosy in the Maybach with you
Actin’ like I ain’t that nigga
Yeah, but you know what’s up with me
And luckily, you stuck with me
I say what I say, I don’t say it to sound cool
About Blxst:
Blxst has architected a new era of West Coast hip hop and culture by hand as not only a rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer but also as a creative visionary who mixes, masters, and self-edits his own videos and artwork. Back in high school, the South Central native taught himself how to produce and record, going on to collaborate with YG, Mozzy, Snoop Dogg, Nas, Rick Ross, and more. Following a string of buzzing singles in 2019, he forged an ironclad creative partnership with Bino Rideaux on their first critically acclaimed Sixtape. During 2020, he partnered with Red Bull Records and unleashed his solo debut EP, No Love Lost, to unanimous tastemaker praise. Following release, it rose to #3 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums Chart, #6 on the Rolling Stone Breakthrough 25 Chart, and #11 on the Trending 25 Chart, while the single “Overrated” soared to #15 at Urban radio.
The deluxe edition of No Love Lost yielded the gold certified smash “Chosen” (feat. Ty Dolla $ign and Tyga), posting up over 300 million streams in less than a year while breaking into the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 at Rhythmic and Urban radio. Pigeons & Planes crowned it “one of the best projects” of the year. Kickstarting 2021, he dropped the Just For Clarity two-pack and Sixtape 2 with Bino Rideaux. He also earned the Billboard Rising Star Award, becoming the first artist to ever receive the honor at the 2021 Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Summit. With excitement at a boiling point, he sold out his entire fall 2021 No Love Lost Tour in ten seconds. Posting up more than 1 billion streams, his recent win of “Best New Artist Of The Year” for 2022 XXL Awards, claiming a place in XXL’s coveted 2021 Freshman Class, selected as a Breakthrough Artist on Amazon Music, a 2021 BET Hip Hop Awards and BET Soul Train nominee, and pegged as an “Artist to Watch” by Billboard, Complex, Pigeons & Planes, UPROXX, and more, he continues to traffic in a lane of his own, bringing the game with him.
